Rose Campbell
Rose Calliope Campbell (13th September 1987, Melbourne Australia) is a freelance creative concept designer, artist and muse living in Brunswick. Operating under a psuedonym, her real identity is relatively unknown. She has been webmistress of various popular blogs such as The Dandelion Song (dec.) and more recently Pajama Empress. She is reknowned for being highly imaginative and prolific in her various artistic disciplines.
Background and Upbringing
Rose was born to Anne and Frank Campbell in 1987, spending her first years living in a studio loft in Carlton. Her parents, though both of Australian origin, gave her an eclectic upbringing - she was exposed to music, literature, film, food and culture from many different eras and regions. Being first born, attention and affection was lavished on Rose is such a way that has resulted in "Princess Complex" being something that still affects her today. She has three siblings: Vincent (born 1989), Ellen (born 1990) and Kathryn (born 1994). At the beginning of 1995, Rose and her family emigrated to Taiwan. They spent three years living in Taipei City, an experience which Rose believes to have had a profound affect on her. "It really was an amazing time.. being part of the international brat pack, even for that short time, was something that most people will never get to experience." - 1999 interview.
Education
Rose attended various primary schools due to her overseas forays, including the Taipei British School. She then attended Matthew Flinders Girls Secondary College, enrolling part-time at Sacred Heart College to supplement her final year of secondary studies. Now she attends the University of Melbourne, completing the first year of her Bachelor of Arts degree. Rose is the lucky recipient of a scholarship and hopes to complete an honours year.
Current Projects
Rose is currently webmistress of her online journal, The Pajama Empress, a chronicle of her everyday woes, passions, flights of creative frenzy and cake-eating marathons. Rose also does musical theatre, currently appearing in an pre-professional production of Anything Goes as understudy Hope Harcourt. She has also been in shows such as Wizard of Oz, Annie Get Your Gun, The Soldier's Wife, George Orwell's 1984, as well as cowriting and directing many short plays. Next she looks forward to auditioning for Belle in the May 2007 production of Beauty and the Beast. Rose is also a fan of guerilla art and literature. Given her mood and situation, Melbourne University can be subject to seemingly random eruptions of chalk drawings, poetic posters or random acts of kindness. These are chronicled in the blog [Providence and Serendipity], a joint blog shared with the mysterious Dr. Waterstone.
